Ministry Update – Gospel Encounter Lampung
We give thanks to God for His grace and steadfast love that continue to sustain the ministry of Gospel Encounter in Lampung. Throughout this journey, we have witnessed how the Lord faithfully guides and opens doors to serve students at the Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), helping them live lives centered on the Gospel. This update shares the latest stories and developments from our ministry.
The ministry is currently carried out by Martin and Rossy, with the full support of Dofran and Lala to also help us managing about GESFA and some Gospel Centered Life Study through online video calls. Together, we share one mission: to help students know, experience, and live out the love of Christ in the midst of their academic life and daily campus journey.
Why “Gospel Encounter”?
The name Gospel Encounter was chosen because we believe that the Christian life begins with an encounter with the Gospel, a personal experience of being touched and transformed by the redeeming love of Christ. “Encounter” speaks of a living moment when the truth of the Gospel moves from being something understood in the mind to something experienced in the heart, producing a changed life.
Through every study group, personal conversation, and relationship, we long for students to experience this life-changing encounter, growing into Gospel-centered people whose lives naturally reflect Christ’s grace to others.
Gospel-Centered Life Study Groups
Praise God, the Gospel Encounter ministry continues to grow in His grace. This semester, we have seen the Gospel work powerfully in the lives of students at ITERA through five active Gospel-Centered Life study groups: three groups for male students and two for female students. We also provide individual mentoring for recipients of the Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aid (GESFA).
Through these weekly gatherings, students are learning to understand and live out the Gospel in practical, daily ways. In the coming weeks, one of the groups will reach the final chapter of the Gospel-Centered Life book, marking an encouraging milestone in their journey together.

Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aids (GESFA)
We are grateful that the Lord has entrusted us with the Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aids (GESFA) program. Currently, four donors faithfully provide financial support to students in need. The aid covers one semester of tuition fees and may continue for up to eight semesters, with evaluation at the end of each term.
At present, two students are receiving this scholarship, and our commitment is not only to assist them financially but also to walk with them spiritually through discipleship using The Gospel-Centered Life material, while also supporting their academic and personal growth.

Ministry in Churches, Youth, and Christian Student Fellowship
Beyond campus ministry, we are deeply thankful for the opportunities to serve the wider body of Christ. We currently serve as preachers at the Gereja Kristen Protestan Indonesia (GKPI) and MDC Church. We were also invited to share in the leadership upgrading event for the Christian Student Fellowship (PMK) of ITERA, as well as in the monthly youth services of GKPI.
We never expected that God and the church leaders would entrust us with the opportunity to preach His Word. It is truly a humbling experience for us. Although we are still learning how to contextualize sermons and speak effectively to different congregations, we continue to pray that the Lord will equip and enable us each time we stand to proclaim His Gospel.
We see each preaching invitation as a precious opportunity to proclaim the Gospel and let others experience the love of Christ. In many of these first-time preaching occasions, we often share a message from The Prodigal God by Tim Keller, as it reflects the core DNA of our ministry: being part of a Gospel-Centered Movement that keeps the grace of Christ at the heart of everything we do.

Christian Freshmen 2025 – A Field Ready for Harvest
This year, ITERA welcomed around 900 Christian freshmen from the class of 2025. It is a joy to see so many young hearts on campus, yet at the same time, we are reminded of Jesus’ words: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” The need for shepherds, mentors, and gospel witnesses is immense. We pray that God will raise more workers who are passionate to serve among these students, helping them grow in faith and live missionally in their campus life.

Prayer Requests
We would be deeply grateful for your prayers.
Our greatest struggle right now is time management. Balancing academic responsibilities as lecturers, ministry commitments, and rest has been challenging. Our local church also hopes that we can serve more in various areas, including committees and events, which makes us realize how often we fail to manage our time wisely. Please pray that God will teach us how to prioritize, to rest well, and to serve joyfully without neglecting the things that truly matter.
We also ask for prayer regarding financial provision. Currently, we have not yet received any public support for this ministry. Most of the ministry expenses are covered by our personal funds. We are considering several options for the future, and we ask for wisdom and discernment from God as we make decisions about financial sustainability.
Lastly, please pray for our ability to respond in counseling. From time to time, people come to our home to talk or seek counsel. We are not trained counselors, but we try to listen with openness, avoid giving too many practical answers, and always bring the conversations back to prayer and the Gospel. Pray that God will use even our limited words to bring comfort and truth to those who come.
Closing
We are deeply grateful for the privilege of serving in this ministry and for each opportunity to see the Gospel transform lives. As we continue this journey, we are reminded that every good work begins and ends with God's grace. Our hearts are full of thanksgiving for His faithfulness, and we look forward to witnessing how The Gospel of Jesus Christ will continue to work among the students and community here in Lampung.

Pembaruan Pelayanan – Gospel Encounter Lampung
Puji syukur kepada Tuhan atas kasih dan anugerah-Nya yang terus memelihara pelayanan Gospel Encounter di Lampung. Dalam setiap langkah, kami melihat bagaimana Tuhan dengan setia menuntun dan membuka jalan untuk melayani mahasiswa di Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) agar hidup mereka semakin berpusat pada Injil. Pembaruan ini membagikan kabar dan cerita terkini dari pelayanan kami.
Saat ini, pelayanan dijalankan oleh Martin dan Rossy, dengan dukungan penuh dari Dofran dan Lala untuk juga membantu kami mengelola tentang GESFA dan beberapa Studi Kehidupan Berpusat pada Injil melalui video conference. Bersama-sama, kami mengemban satu panggilan: menolong mahasiswa mengenal, mengalami, dan menghidupi kasih Kristus di tengah kehidupan kampus mereka.
Mengapa Nama “Gospel Encounter”
Nama Gospel Encounter dipilih karena kami percaya bahwa kehidupan Kristen sejati dimulai dari sebuah perjumpaan dengan Injil, pengalaman pribadi ketika hati disentuh dan diubahkan oleh kasih Kristus yang menebus. “Encounter” menggambarkan momen hidup di mana kebenaran Injil tidak hanya dipahami secara intelektual, tetapi juga dialami secara pribadi, menghasilkan perubahan yang nyata.
Melalui setiap kelompok studi, percakapan, dan relasi, kami rindu agar setiap mahasiswa mengalami perjumpaan yang mengubah hidup ini, sehingga mereka bertumbuh menjadi pribadi yang berpusat pada Injil dan mencerminkan kasih Kristus kepada sesama.

Puji Tuhan, pelayanan Gospel Encounter terus bertumbuh dalam kasih karunia-Nya. Di semester ini, kami melihat bagaimana Injil bekerja di tengah kehidupan mahasiswa ITERA melalui lima kelompok studi aktif, terdiri dari tiga kelompok mahasiswa laki-laki dan dua kelompok mahasiswa perempuan. Kami juga melakukan pendampingan pribadi bagi penerima Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aids (GESFA).
Dalam pertemuan mingguan ini, para mahasiswa belajar memahami dan menghidupi Injil secara nyata dalam keseharian mereka. Dalam beberapa minggu ke depan, salah satu kelompok telah mencapai bab terakhir dari buku Gospel-Centered Life, menandai perjalanan pembelajaran yang penuh sukacita dan pertumbuhan.

Program Bantuan Pendidikan - Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aids (GESFA)
Kami bersyukur karena Tuhan telah mempercayakan kami untuk menjalankan program Gospel Encounter Student Financial Aids (GESFA). Saat ini terdapat empat orang donatur yang dengan setia menyalurkan dukungan finansial bagi mahasiswa yang membutuhkan. Bantuan ini berupa pembayaran uang kuliah satu semester dan dapat dilanjutkan hingga maksimal delapan semester, dengan evaluasi setiap semesternya.
Saat ini terdapat dua mahasiswa penerima beasiswa, dan kami berkomitmen bukan hanya mendukung secara finansial, tetapi juga membina secara rohani melalui buku Gospel-Centered Life serta mendampingi pertumbuhan akademik dan spiritual mereka.

Pelayanan di Gereja, Komunitas Youth, dan PMK ITERA
Selain pelayanan kampus, kami juga bersyukur diberi kesempatan oleh Tuhan untuk melayani melalui pemberitaan Firman di berbagai tempat. Saat ini kami melayani sebagai pengkhotbah di Gereja Kristen Protestan Indonesia (GKPI) dan Gereja MDC. Kami juga diundang untuk membagikan firman dalam acara upgrading pengurus PMK ITERA serta dalam ibadah bulanan youth GKPI.
Kami tidak pernah menyangka bahwa Tuhan dan para pemimpin gereja memberikan kesempatan kepada kami untuk berkhotbah. Kesempatan ini menjadi pengalaman yang sangat berharga. Walaupun kami masih belajar untuk mengontekstualisasikan khotbah sesuai dengan jemaat yang dilayani, kami selalu berdoa agar Tuhan sendiri yang memampukan kami setiap kali kami berdiri untuk memberitakan Injil-Nya.
Bagi kami, setiap kesempatan untuk berkhotbah adalah anugerah yang berharga. Kami melihatnya sebagai ruang di mana Injil diberitakan dan kasih Kristus dialami oleh lebih banyak orang. Dalam banyak kesempatan, terutama saat pertama kali berkhotbah di suatu tempat, kami sering membagikan pesan dari buku The Prodigal God karya Tim Keller. Melalui pesan ini, kami ingin menunjukkan DNA pelayanan kami, yaitu menjadi bagian dari Gospel-Centered Movement, sebuah gerakan yang menempatkan kasih karunia Kristus di pusat dari segala hal yang kami lakukan.

Mahasiswa Baru Kristen ITERA 2025 – Ladang yang Luas
Tahun ini, ITERA menyambut sekitar 900 mahasiswa baru beragama Kristen dari angkatan 2025. Pemandangan ini penuh sukacita, namun juga menjadi pengingat akan sabda Tuhan: “Tuaian memang banyak, tetapi pekerja sedikit.” Ladang pelayanan di kampus sangat luas, tetapi hanya sedikit pekerja yang tersedia. Kami berdoa kiranya Tuhan membangkitkan lebih banyak hamba dan pelayan yang rindu menolong mahasiswa-mahasiswa ini bertumbuh dalam iman dan hidup berpusat pada Injil di tengah kehidupan kampus.

Pokok Doa
Kami sangat bersyukur jika rekan-rekan dapat mendukung kami dalam doa.
Pergumulan terbesar kami saat ini adalah mengatur waktu. Tantangan untuk menyeimbangkan tanggung jawab akademik sebagai dosen, pelayanan, dan waktu istirahat cukup berat. Gereja tempat kami berjemaat juga berharap kami dapat terlibat lebih banyak dalam berbagai kegiatan dan kepanitiaan, yang membuat kami semakin sadar bahwa kami sering gagal dalam mengelola waktu dengan bijak. Mohon doakan agar Tuhan menolong kami belajar mengatur prioritas, beristirahat dengan tenang, dan tetap melayani dengan sukacita.
Kami juga mohon dukungan doa untuk perkara finansial. Saat ini, pelayanan ini belum menerima dukungan publik. Sebagian besar kebutuhan pelayanan masih kami penuhi dari dana pribadi. Kami sedang mempertimbangkan beberapa opsi terkait hal ini dan memohon agar Tuhan memberikan hikmat dan kebijaksanaan dalam mengambil keputusan ke depan.
Terakhir, mohon doakan agar kami dimampukan dalam menanggapi konseling. Beberapa orang sering datang ke rumah untuk berbincang dan meminta nasihat. Kami bukan konselor profesional, namun kami berusaha menanggapi dengan hati terbuka, mendengarkan tanpa banyak memberi saran praktis, dan menolong mereka dalam doa. Kiranya Tuhan memakai percakapan sederhana ini untuk menghadirkan penghiburan dan kebenaran Injil bagi setiap hati yang datang.
Penutup
Kami sangat bersyukur atas hak istimewa untuk melayani dalam pelayanan ini dan atas setiap kesempatan untuk melihat Injil mengubah hidup. Saat kami melanjutkan perjalanan ini, kami diingatkan bahwa setiap pekerjaan baik dimulai dan diakhiri dengan kasih karunia Allah. Hati kami penuh dengan ucapan syukur atas kesetiaan-Nya, dan kami menantikan untuk menyaksikan bagaimana Injil Yesus Kristus akan terus bekerja di antara para mahasiswa dan komunitas di sini di Lampung.
